Tea Oracle

Highlights

Tea Oracle was born during a 2 hour build session using Lovable and Claude.

Tea Oracle is an abstract dream turned web app that combines tea, intention, and reflection into a personalized experience. Instead of simply recommending a tea, it encourages users to slow down, choose an intention, and receive a curated tea ritual paired with reflective prompts.

How it was built

Problem

  • People like to live their lives with intention. Sometimes when we are having coffee or a cup of tea, there is no intention, just habit. People may have a cup of tea, but don't steep it for the right amount of time or they accidentally have a caffeinated tea before bed and now they're lying awake. If we had more intention and understanding around the tea we are drinking, we can 10x our lives. We can not only be more productive, but be more in flow.

Design Iterations

  • First I defined the who, what, why and vibe. Who this was for, what it needs to do, why this product, and the β€œvibe” I was going for. I turned this into a prompt that I input into Claude and generated a markdown file to bring the web app to life within Lovable. Then I used Claude to clarify assumptions and further refine the parameters of the web app

    • Ex: Clarifying the audience, important tasks, monetization plan, vision refinement, and information architecture

  • After continued iterations to the color palette to create a cohesive visual experience, typography, responsiveness and additional features. I was ready with a product I could be proud of and would be excited to continue improving after the build session

Technology

  • Front-end: built by Lovable

  • AI: Claude API (oracle readings, mood-based recommendations, etc.)

  • Auth/data: single user to start; architecture supports multi-user accounts in the future (journal entries and preferences will be tied to user profiles)

The inspiration from this idea came from my daily life.

I really enjoy different teas and sometimes mixing different loose leaf teas to create a new flavor or experience. In my own free time I learned more about different types of teas, caffeine levels and how they should be steeped.

So I thought, what if there was an app that I could use for this? Not just a tool to search, but one that allows for intention, exploration, and curiosity. That is how this idea was born.

The Inspiration

I built the "Tea Oracle" for tea enthusiasts who don't just drink tea, they live it.

This is a web app that starts with the enthusiast asking the oracle about a tea and receiving a reading on the tea (its origin, symbolism, uses, and more) that they can save to a journal. Each journal entry has a star rating, a date and a space for personal reflections.

Or if the enthusiast wants to lead with how they feel or how they want to feel, the oracle can recommend the tea best suited for them.

Lastly, for those curious explorers, there is an interactive 3D globe where major tea-growing regions are marked with a glowing pulse point. Clicking any marker will open a region panel detailing the teas of that region.

Tea Oracle reframes something ordinary as an act of intention and it transforms the normal tea drinker into someone greater. Someone with awareness and intention who lives their life fully as they maximize on the benefits of the tea in their cup. This is a tool that helps us to live with more intention- one cup at a time.

The Solution

Over the next few months, I plan to continue developing Tea Oracle by:

πŸ“Š Conducting interviews and usability tests to validate which current features to improve and new features to prioritize

πŸ“– Update the guided journaling and reflection experience with progress tracking

🌿 Add educational content about herbs, wellness traditions, and tea rituals

πŸ€– Explore more AI-powered personalization and insights

πŸ’Έ Add a β€œWhere to Buy” feature with affiliate partnerships
